I have had 5 treatments with a Multilux IPL by Palamar (Wavelength 870-1400nm) ranging from 26-30 joules, using single and double passes. I have experienced results with this, but the redness persists (and at $250AU a treatment i wasn't happy with the results). If i had to rate it from a scale of 1-10 i would give it a 5 so i decided to look into some other treatment. I came across some studies done on V-Beam laser technology where the wavelength was specifically tuned to target blood vessels at 595nm. I found a place in Drummoyne, Sydney who had in their posession a V-Beam laser so i scheduled some appointments. I have now finished my second treatment and have had much better results. My first treatment was at a high energy setting and consequently i was bruised for about a week and a half, however i do not regret this because 1 treatment at this energy level showed better results that all 5 combined results of the IPL. My second treatment was done two days ago at a lower setting and i did not have any bruising this time. Similar after affects as the IPL - slight increase in redness and mild facial sweeling and am waiting to see the results from this. Anyway, I would recommend the V-Beam as a more efficient alternative to IPL treatments. If you can hide for a week and a half with a bruised face, I would go for the higher energy levels as it effectively smashes the blood vessels. But i will keep you posted on the ongoing results from the lower energy levels.
