Rosacea / flushing / facial redness treatment report from: David Would they recommend this: Yes TreatmentType: Other, view reports of all Other treatments Details: I had a consultation and test treatment last December at Dr Handley's clinic. He tested my face with 2 lasers, one with the Pulsed Dye laser and one with IPL. The IPL was practically ineffective but the Pulsed Dye was amazing (it totally removed the redness in the small area he treated) but I had to wait until September for another appointment, he has a full appointment sheet. For my full treatment in September, I was in and out of the clinic in 15 minutes. The laser has a cooling system, so you don't feel pain as such. The sensation is similar to being thwacked in the face with a rubber band, or being hit with a spot of frying pan oil, and is only momentary. The Pulsed Dye marks were quite unsightly (someone at work asked if i'd gone over the handlebars of my bike) and my cheeks swelled quite a bit but there was no pain, my cheeks just felt hotter than usual. I only needed to take one day off work and treated the swelling with cooling packs (the gel packs you would use for sports injurys, joints etc) and the swelling went down in 2-3 days. The bruising was mostly gone in a week - 10 days. I have noticed a great improvement in the reduction of redness and the skin feels smoother where the treatment occured. Dr Handley is very professional, goes through the whole procedure at your consultation and doesn't promise the earth; he's realistic about the results you can expect(he can't totally remove the redness but can reduce it by about 80%, in my case). I will need at least one, possibly 2 further treatments. The next one's in 2 weeks. I have felt self-consious about this for years, the redness being set off by alcohol, excerise, cold wind etc. I'm really happy with the results.
