Rosacea / flushing / facial redness treatment report from: Sue

Details: My recommendation is for veinwave - not IPL. Difficult to commit to above as I am still receiving veinwave treatment - though do expect to be fully cured. I was diagnosed with Rosacea 12 mobnths ago. The only obvious signs being broken veins across my nose, a few other small red patches and what I perceived to be a lump emerging on one side of my nose - (but then I may always have had this). GP prescribed Metrogel - horrible - Nystaform much better (doesn't peel off). The appearance of broken veins however was bothering me. No NHS treatment for this! Researched treatment methods. Decided on IPL. Was told at the outset I would probably need no more than 3 treatments - at a cost of £95 per treatment. 7 treatments later it was clear I would need at least a further 7 and I suspected I may need regular/permanent treatment. (Talk about a gravy boat!) As fast as one was zapped, another would appear. Gave up on this and decided to try Veinwave - very much more expensive but also very much more effective. Dr. Newman estimates I will need a further 2 treatments to eliminate the veins/redness - at £300 a time. However, he is a surgeon and I believe was responsible for developing the system, (uses microwaves). He also prescribed 2 month's oral antibiotics - tetracyclin and Nystaform. Interesting, perhaps - my GP diagnosed Rosacea, Bay Clinic (IPL) said not - sun damage, Dr. Newman says Rosacea. Be great if there was a diffinitive diagnostic test! Common sense might then tell us how best to 'treat'.
