I began treatment with Dr. Darm about 10 days ago choosing to use his every other day protocol. I researched many Drs. across the country, I decided to fly to Portland (I live in Florida) to see Dr Darm for several reasons. First, he is knowledgeable about the disease, he has a specific protocol to treat redness, flushing and burning (my main symptoms) & he has a protocol that has allowed me to come & stay for 2 to 3 weeks & complete the entire set of treatments as opposed frequent trips to Dr. Soldo (someone I considered seeing) Dr. Darm is an extremely caring physician with an excellent understanding of this disease. His staff is friendly, kind & helpful. My experience at the office has been a 10. 5 years ago I had 6 NIGHTMARE IPL treatments in Florida that left me traumatized. My face was COVERED with blisters which turned in to scabs. One particular treatment took 1 month of recovery time. The experience at Dr Darm's has been COMPLETELY different. My first three treatments I had no swelling, no blisters whatsoever, and other than transient redness, the treatment has been "gentle." I did have a minor amount of swelling after my 4th treatment which disipated after 12 hours with icing and low dose steriod. I still have 4 treatments to go. So far, my burning symptoms have been reduced by 50 to 75%. (This was the number one symptom that I wanted to eleviate). My face still has redness, however, I am getting treatments continually and I know that the redness will go away in the next couple of weeks. There is little to no swelling. I do have some P and P's that are controlled by Rosac (topical sulfacetamide) which I have even been able to use through these treatments.
