More on SansRosa from Windhover report

From here:

http://sis.windhover.com/windbuy/lpext.dll/windbuy/su/2005/2005900050.htm

You need to buy the report for the full details, but here are some of the more interesting snippets:

- "SansRosa has teamed up with rosacea expert Mark Dahl"
- "SansRosa's goal is to reduce the erythema associated with rosacea"
- "... one of the SansRosa's founders, and his wife happened to be rosacea sufferers. She had put something on her face for an unrelated medical condition and noticed a lightening of her skin" (my note: I wonder what this was!)
- They have filed patents
- They are working on getting the SR101 compound into dermatological formulation
- They believe safety risk is low given the compounds use in other conditions
- IND (?) should be completed in 2005
- Product should have rapid onset of action within 15-30 minutes
- They are potentially looking at licensing the product but may market themselves
- Current US rosacea prescription market is around $300 million (but none of these products treat the redness)

Lumenis One Paper

In-depth paper on the Lumenis One (written by Lumenis)

http://www.aesthetic.lumenis.com/pdf/L1_White_Paper.pdf

As this paper points out -- the main technological advancement (there are lots), is that energy is more accurately distributed between pulses. Dr. Patterson has mentioned this to me before when I have visited him for IPL treatments. The current photoderm machines have an inherent feature, where multiple-pulses are not delivered "evenly". From what I understand, more energy is delivered in the first pulse. He has been aware of this new machine coming for some time.

Hopefully people will report on their treatments so we can see what effect this new machine has in real life.

Paper on Flushing

Rick points out a useful paper on flushing:

Quote:

"This is one of the most comprehensive papers I have seen. Note that it is written by an endocrinologist."
