New treatment modalities - compounded creams
Very thoughtful post by Dr. Young (a vetinary doctor) about special creams that can potentially be created by a compounding pharmacy.

Quotes:
"This is an unbelievable source that is totally untapped in opening up new treatments for ourselves. Compounding pharmacists will even get online and search the new articles and literature for us."
...
"Desensitizing the facial nerves and vessels with these drugs over 4-6 weeks may even decrease our flushing threshold and possibly decrease permanent facial redness."

Rosacea and Demodex Mites -- possible role?
I personally think too much time is being spent studying this mite. If we got to the root cause of our disease and stopped the flushing and initial progression we would probably not get to the demodex stage. It does not stack up in any way to me, that demodex is a causative factor.
Topical Ketamine
Topical Ketamine has long been used by diabetics to treat diabetic neuropathy, a burning sensation of the skin. Question is... Could it be used on rosaceans? At the moment this is all theory and speculation.
For anyone looking at researching the papers behind these suggestions, Public Medline is the best place to start. Note that these topicals are very much "experimental" at this stage although they clearly hold lots of promise. The great thing is that with a prescription you can could potentially get them fulfilled by a compounding pharmacy.
Couple of abstracts on Topical Ketamine:

Please post a comment if you try these new experimental topicals.

Rosacea and sun-damage
Interesting comments by Rick on sun-damage / rosacea and his observations:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/rosacea-support/message/63313
I live in the UK, where we get very little sun -- personally I have never been burn. So it does not cause rosacea for everyone, probably not even a majority. But it seems like sun-damage is one of the causing factors for some people with the predisposition.
On which subject everyone is talking about Linda Sy's ZincO on the support group. Amazing how one product can have such a beneficial effect for such a large group of people with all their intolerances to topical products. Linda developed the ZincO in consultation with the support group a year or two back. We will make large steps in beating this disease by such co-operation.

Rosacea and facial burning
Very interesting post by Dr. Young PhD, about facial burning and rosacea, and how he has reduced these symptoms with his own regime.

Rosacea and exercise
Some interesting discussions about rosacea and exercise.
This post is about getting a red face during exercise, but how the exercise overall helped reduce exercise:

Lots of people seem to find weight work easier on the rosacea than cardio:

Positive message about IPL / photoderm
Always great to read of rosacea sufferers who are experiencing great results in battling this condition:

"What a difference! Almost all of the broken blood vessels on my face are gone. More importantly, it's now MUCH harder to make me flush. I can exercise again without getting tomato face. My nose has stopped throbbing and pouring out oil. My facial skin feels thicker, stronger, less fragile. My eyes had been a misery, and stopping the flushing has improved them considerably."

Positive message about someone whose rosacea has improved
A very positive message from someone who is winning against rosacea. It's always nice to read messages like this -- people may not be "cured" in the traditional sense but it seems that this disease can be beated back until it is no longer a problem.
